How to Find Your MacBook Model
How to Find Your MacBook Model Number (A-Number)
Every MacBook has a unique model number that starts with the letter “A” (e.g., A2337). This code helps you choose the correct case, screen protector, or keyboard cover.
Where to find your A-number
- On the bottom case — Turn your MacBook over and look for small text near the hinge. You’ll see “Model Axxxx”, for example A2337.
- On the box/receipt — The A-number is often printed on the retail box label.
- From macOS (for reference) — Apple menu → About This Mac shows the model name (e.g., “MacBook Pro 14-inch, 2023”). Match it with the A-number list below.

FAQ
What is an A-number?
It’s Apple’s hardware identifier printed on the MacBook (e.g., A2442).
Accessories such as hard shell cases are designed to fit specific A-numbers.
I only know the chip (M1/M2/M3/M4). Is that enough?
The chip narrows it down, but different sizes (13/14/15/16-inch) still need different cases.
Check the bottom of your MacBook for the exact A-number to be sure.
